What Are Other States Doing?
Other states that rely heavily on agriculture realize the importance of the role technology can play in emergency response to a disease outbreak or bioterrorist attack. Many states are taking the necessary steps to protect their agricultural and food industry. Michigan, Illinois, Indiana and Ohio are currently working on a collaborative premise identification system through USDA funding. Texas, Nebraska, and West Virginia similarly have a Premise Registration form in place to collect premise locations. We are working closely with other states to determine the best strategy for Pennsylvania. The U.S. Department of Agriculture, the Department of Homeland Security, PA Department of Agriculture and Penn State University are making Pennsylvania's effort possible
